Director of Missions

     Dr. Bill King became the director of missions for TLBA in April, 2007.  He and his family moved to the Opelika/Auburn area from Southaven, MS, where Dr. King had served as pastor of Gracewood Baptist Church since 1998.  He is married to Jean King and they have one daughter, Ashley.  Dr. King is a native of Rainsville, AL where he graduated from Plainview High School.  He also graduated from Samford University and holds a Master of Divinity degree and a Doctor of Ministry degree from New Orleans Baptist Seminary.  He began serving as pastor while he was still a college student  and has pastored churches in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi for a total of thirty years.

    Dr. King is available for pulpit supply and to preach, or teach, for special occasions.  He is also a Christian humorist and musician that is available to your church for banquets, fellowships, concerts, special music, or whatever needs you might have along those lines.  He has performed as Bro Billy Bob Bohannon, a character he created,  in numerous settings in several states.  Check out Billy Bob's own web site at  As a musician, he plays several instruments and  has written close to one hundred songs (some serious, some not so).  Along with The King's Band, he has recorded two CD's of original music.  You can hear a sample of The King's Band by going to and do a search for The King's Band.
